I am José Abel, a painter born in Bilbao on July 11, 1964. From a very early age, my life has been an unwavering commitment to canvas, color, and brushstrokes.
My training began in the venerable classrooms of the Museum of Artistic Reproductions in Bilbao, laying a classical foundation that would later allow me to fly freely. The next major milestone was a decade of intense learning and mentoring under the guidance of master painter Félix Aguirre, an experience that refined my technique and forged my artistic identity.
My artistic philosophy is rooted in the belief that art is a universal language, capable of moving, provoking, and transforming. My mission is to create works that are not only visually appealing, but also thought-provoking. What defines me and makes me unique is my fire technique, a bold manifestation of creativity.
This experimental process, where the flame becomes another tool of my brush, allows me to explore textures, nuances, and shapes that would be impossible to achieve with traditional methods. For me, fire symbolizes the constant evolution of art and the ability to reinvent oneself. Each work created with this technique is a testament to my boldness and mastery, offering the viewer a unique visual and conceptual experience. It is my way of leaving a “burning mark” on the canvas, my personal signature that the world is beginning to recognize.
